Endangered species

What is an endangered species?

Endangered species- any species that is at risk of extinction because of sudden rapid decrease in its population or a loss of its critical habit.

Here  a list some most endangered species -

Tiger - This big cat is critically part of ecosystem and culture. Tiger is the largest living cat species and a member of genus Panthera . It is most recognisable for its dark vertical strips on orange- brown fur with a lighter underside . It is an apex predator , primarily preying on ungulates such as deer and wild bear .

Scientific name - Panthera Tigris .

Based on the best available information , tiger population are stable or increasing in China , Nepal , Bhutan , and India .

An estimated 3,900 tigers remain in the wild , but much more work is needed to protect this species if we are secure its future in the wild . In some areas , including much of southeast Asia , tigers are still in crisis and declining in number.

Snow leopard - The snow leopard , also known as ounce is a felid in the genus Panthera native to mountain ranges of central and south Asia . It is listed as vulnerable on the IUCN red list because the global population is estimated to number fewer than 10,000 . Mature individuals and expected to decline 10% by 2040 .

Scientific name - Panthera uncia

Chimpanzee
-  chimpanzee also known as the common chimpanzee , robust chimpanzee or simply chimpanzee ,is a species of great ape native to the forest and Savannah of tropical Africa.

The chimpanzee is listed on the IUCN red list as an endangered species. Between 17,000 to 300,000 individuals are estimated across its range . The biggest threat to the chimpanzee are habitat loss , poaching and disease.

Scientific name - Pan troglodytes

Black rhinoceros - The black rhinoceros is a species of rhinoceros , native to Eastern and southern Africa . The species overall classified as critically endangered . Three subspecies have been declared extinct , including the western black rhinoceros , which was declared extinct by the IUCN in 2011.

 Scientific name - Diceros bicornis

Today , there are various threat posed to the black rhinoceros including habitat changes , illegal poaching and competing species.

Giant panda - also known as panda bear is a bear native to south Central China . It is characterised by its bold and white coat and rotund body . Giant panda is folivore with bamboo shorts and leaves making up more than 99%of its diet. Giant panda in wild will occasionally eat other grasses or wild tuber .

Scientific name - Ailuropoda melanoleuca

In 2016 IUCN reclassified the species from endangered to vulnerable affirming decade-long efforts to save the panda .

Red panda - Red panda is carnivorans native to the Eastern Himalaya and southwestern China . It is listed as endangered on the IUCN red list because the wild population is estimated at fewer than 10,000 mature individuals and continuous to decline due to habitat loss and fragmentation, poaching and inbreeding depression . Despite its name , it is not closely related to giant panda .

Sea turtle - for more than 10,000 million years sea turtles have covered wast distances across the world ocean , filling a virtual role in the balance of marine habitats .

Scientific name - Cheloniidae and Dermochelyidae families

Over the last 200 years , human activities have tipped the scale against the survival of these ancient Marines . Slaughtered for their eggs , meat , skin and shells , sea turtle suffer more from poaching and over- exploitation . They also face habitat destruction and accidental capture known as by catch - in fishing gear.

Nearly all species of sea turtle are now classified as endangered , with three of the seven existing species being critically endangered .

Penguins- penguins are a group of aquatic flightless birds . They live Almost exclusively in southern hemisphere ,with only one species . The Galapagos penguin found north of the equator .

 Scientific name - Spheniscidae

Penguin face many threats from introduced predators, disease and geological events like volcanic eruption , too pollution , getting tangled in fishing nets, climate change and secure weather .

Why should we save endangered species?

Healthy ecosystem depends on plant and animals species as their foundations. When a species becomes endangered , it is a sign that the ecosystem is slowly falling apart ,each species that lost triggers the loss of other species within its ecosystem . Human depends on healthy ecosystem to purify our environment.

How we can protect endangered species ?

1. Educate your family about endangered species in your area.

2. Recycle and buy sustainable product.

3. Grow native plants .

4. Reduce water consumption .

5. Do not use and buy plastic products.

6. Volunteer your time to protect the wildlife in your area .

MUCORMYCOSIS : A BLACK FUNGUS

Doctors in India are concerned about an increasing number of potential fungal infection affecting either people who have COVID-19 or those who have recently recovered from the disease. The condition known as MUCORMYCOSIS has a high mortality rate and was present in India before the pandemic. Some experts attribute the fungal infections to an increased use of steroids to treat hospitalised patients. Another could be that , with hospital overwhelmed in this second wave of pandemic, many families are self medicating and applying oxygen therapy at home without the proper hygiene, expert say. What is mucormycosis? Black fungus is a serious but rare fungal infection caused by group of molds that live in environment called mucormycosis. Mucormycosis mainly affects people who have health problems or take medicine that lower the body's ability to fight germs and sickness . This disease can be fatal . It most commonly affects the sinuses or the lungs after inhaling fungal spores from the ai

Boost your immune system

How you can improve your immunity power ? Now-a-days people's life is full of race .Human being is so busy in work that  he doesn't have time to take  care of his health . This is why the lifestyle of people has changed a lot . Their body resistance is getting weaker and this is why it is becoming more difficult to protect oneself from disease . One reason why  Corona   epidemic has cought so many peoples is that people are not taking care of their health and that is why they could not protect themselves from the effect of the virus. Here , I'm presenting  some tips to boost your and yours family's immunity power .  1. DO YOGA -   I think yoga is the best way to improve your immunity. Doing  yoga  keeps diseases away.  Here some postures  that will improve your health.  *  Trikonasan  * Yog - nindra *  Ustrasana * Garudasana * Dhanurasan And you should also do this pranayam daily- 1. Anulom vilom  2.  kapalbhati 3. Bhastrika  This pranayam makes your body healthy .  Imp

CORONA: THE BADLY SPREADING VIRUS

CORONA VIRUS    Corona virus disease (COVID -19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. Most of the people infected with the COVID -19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease , diabetes, chronic respiratory disease and cancer are likely to develop serious illness. How does corona virus spread?  Expert believe the virus that causes COVID-19 spreads mainly from person to person . Droplet or aerosols- when an infected person coughs, sneezes or talks droplet or tiny particles called aerosols carry the virus into air from their nose or mouth.  Airborne transmission- research shows that the virus can live in the air for up to 3 hours. It can get into your lungs if someone who had it breaths out and you breath that air in. Surface transmission- when you touch surfaces that someone who has the virus has coughed or s

NEW STRAINS OF CORONA VIRUS

Strains of Corona virus The corona virus at the root of COVID-19 is the newest known member of this family. At their core ,corona virus contain a genetic blue print called RNA , similar to DNA . The single stranded RNA acts as a molecular message that enables production of protein needed for other elements of the virus. Encapsulating the RNA genome is the viral envelope which protects the virus when it is outside of a host cell . This outer envelope is made from a layer of lipid ,a waxy barrier containing fat molecules. The bulbous projections seen on the outside of the corona virus are spike proteins (red orange). This fringe of proteins gives the virus its crown like appearance under the microscope from which the latin name corona derived.                             Multiple variants of the virus that causes COVID-19 are circulating globally. In collaboration with SARS -COV-2  Interagency Group (SIG) for SARS - COV -2 variants being monitored:  There are Currently 5 variant of conce

New covid-19 Drug '2-DG'

'2DG'- Drug for Covid-19 patients What is '2-DG'  On monday, May 17 , DRDO (Defense Research Development Organization) released the first batch of the indigenously developed anti-Covid-19 drug, '2-DG' abbreviated as 2-deoxy-D-glucose. 2DG is an oral drug.   On May 1, The national drug regulator, Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) granted permission for the emergency use as an adjunct therapy in moderate to sever COVID-19 patients.  2-DG has been developed by INMAS (Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences)  and DRDO (Defense Research Development Organization) in collaboration with Hyderabad based pharma company, Dr. Reddy's laboratories.  How it Works?  The drug accumulates in virus infected cells and prevents the growth of the virus by stopping viral synthesis and energy production.  2-DG molecules helps patients to recover faster and reduces their dependence on supplemental Oxygen.   It's  selective accumulation in viral infected cells ma

YELLOW FUNGUS

Amide the rising of black fungus infection in several states of India ,one case of yellow fungus infection has been reported from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. What is yellow fungus ? While black    Fungus   infection has been declared as an epidemic in some states , yellow fungus infection is not exactly, much like other fungal infection spread via contaminated environment ,or when suspected patient inhale moulds which grow in the environment.  After black and white fungus, first case of yellow fungus...   Symptoms -   The yellow  Fungus   infection start to cause symptoms by launching an attack on the body's internal organ and disturbing vital bodily processes.                   * Laziness         * Loss of appetite or no appetite                at all weight loss          * In serious cases yellow fungus              can also cause leakage of pus                  and slow healing of the open                  wound          *  Malnutrition and organ                            failu

White Fungus Infection

White Fungus: A deadly Infection What is White Fungus?  White fungus is a fungal infection where there is form of whitish membrane or discharge caused by candida group of organism . White fungus is a fungal infection called candidiasis. It can caused by the unsterile use of oxygen cylinders or the overuse of steroids.  After black fungus infection, now a white fungus infection surface in Patna, Bihar. According to several media reports it is even more deadlier than Black Fungus.  From earlier reports, what we know is, unlike the black fungus whose symptoms are visible to us (like..black crust like formation, one sided swelling etc. ) , a White fungus infection, may only be traced by conducting an HRCT (High Resolution computed tomography)  or equivalent test.  For any fungal infection spread in recent time, we can easily observe that peoples with multiple disease, weaker immunity, or patients using steroids have higher chances of getting into it.  How it is different from Black Fungus?

RED BLOOD CELLS

Red blood cell , also called erythrocyte . Red blood cells are the key of life. They are constantly traveling through your body , delivering oxygen and removing waste . If they didn't do their job , you would slowly die.  RBCs contain a protein called hemoglobin. Hemoglobin contain iron which makes it an excellent vehicle for transporting oxygen and carbon dioxide.    Internal structure   RBCs are considered cell, they lack a nucleus , nuclear DNA . RBCs therefore can't divide or replicate like other cells of the body . They also lack the components to express genes and synthesize protein .  Also read -  Endangered species How RBC  works? The red blood cell develop in bone marrow in several stages from a heamocytoblast , a multi potential cell in the mesenchyme , it becomes an erthroblast , during two to five days of development , the erthroblast gradually fills with hemoglobin and its nucleus and mitochondria disappear . In late stage the cell is called a reticulocyte , which u

MUTATION

What is mutation? Sudden heritable change in genetic material of an organism is called as mutation. Mutation are source of discontinuous variation. Mutation was first observed by Seth Wright. Frequency of mutation at present is 1×10^(-6) (1cell in : 1 million - cell). But it will increase in future due to pollution and destruction of ozone layer.  Mutation in     Corona virus  -                  Mutation in corona virus is slow . Compared with HIV , SARS - COV - 2 is changing much more slowly . After Saver Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) virus began circulating in humans ,for instance,it developed a kind of mutation called a deletion that might have showed its spread.  Causes of mutation - • Mutation can be caused by exposure to specific chemicals or radiation. • alfa , beta , gamma and X  - rays can also causes mutation . • Che mical mutation are more harmful than radiation because body is not protected against chemicals.             Pesticides,DDT , mustard gas , Nitrous acid are
